When it works it's great but our iOs devices rarely recognize it despite it being available on our network. Every time I want to use it I have to reset the device and go through several cycles of annoyance. When it works it sounds okay and is a great device. Pity!!01/15/2015 - Some time after the initial purchase I upgraded our Linksys router to an Apple Airport router. The speaker has performed flawlessly ever since. It's always available in our iOs device when we want to use it. Much happier with our purchase now. Upgraded my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars to reflect this.Pros:Solid build qualitySound is loud and as described has noticeable bassYou can stream anything from your iPhone/iPad since it runs on AirPlaySetup is easy but lacks one crucial step telling you to return to the WiFi network you addedCons:The top and back are rubberized plastic and lint and dust is attracted to it and is not easy to wipe offSound is not the clearestNow to the main issue, this speaker constantly drops the WiFi connection! It is extremely frustrating. Unlike Sonos speakers this thing is horrible with the WiFi connection. I had to reset it and add the WiFi account 4 times in 2 days.I understand its a speaker but the lowest sound level is still too loud if you want to use it let's say at night, if you share a common wall the neighbors can hear it when all is quiet.I just received it this week and will try it out for one full week. If the WiFi issue continues I will return it. It's too bad since it allows you to stream mostly anything to it.Well I can't make it for a full week, the frustration of the WiFi dropping constantly is too much. I have a confirmed and strong signal but this speaker just won't hold on to it. I requested a refund today and will be returning the product.I have some fantastic B&W home theater speakers that I love so I was so excited when I saw they made an AirPlay speaker. Unfortunately the sound quality is less then a $39 BlueTooth set of speakers I have and these are very flakey. Often I try to select them to play as an AirPlay option from my iPhone and they don't even show up as a selectable option. I'll dig out the physical remote control that came in the box and make sure they are turned on- and still nothing. I've re-run the iOS app, made sure I've had the latest firmware and versions (I'm an IT guy so I know what I'm doing) and they just won't show up. Very frustrating!!! When I finally do get them to show up the quality of sound I get is very flat and crushed. If you like understanding vocals- not a good speaker to buy. The one plus is that it does have some decent bass when things do work. Sadly that is not not a reliable situation. If I had to do it again I never would have bought these speakers and should have returned them to Amazon.I had high hopes for the Bowers and Wilkins Z2, based on all the glowing reviews. Man was I disappointed. First off...there was NO mention in any of the product ads or reviews that the Z2 is NOT compatible with older Ipods (pre-Lightning) with the 30-pin jack...you CAN connect them, but you must use a mini-cable into the AUX port in the back of the unit (and of course the cable isn't included). So, there goes the remote control for selecting songs...you can only use it for volume control in that case. When I did connect my Ipod, I immediately noticed the sound was very bright and lacking bass. I guess I've been spoiled by my Kicker dock, which has a rich, full sound that I was expecting from the Z2. For the price, I really don't think this unit is that great.Great piece of audio equipment. 6-stars! So much better than any other docking / wi-fi / bluetooth equipment out there. It lives up to the B&W brand and could qualify in the lower fringes of Hi-Fi - I am no true audiophile, this is just an opinion in a standard setting. I have a higher-priced, 5-elements Bowers & Wilkins A7 and the difference in sound fullness, bass filling and tweet crispness of this lower-range Z2 is much less than expected. The volume up / down "hover-over" control is really cool. Air-Play is great although you get the rare/occasional cut off. At $200 its a real bargain.I'm a big fan of the iLounge Airplay speaker from Libratone, but their smaller Zipp model let me down. Airplay reception was pitiful, even with my Airport WiFi device only 10' away with no walls in-between. The B&W Z2's airplay range is much better and it works flawlessly. I only gave it 4-stars because the sound quality isn't as good as the Libratone. Most importantly, The sound is great and can fill up a large room. AirPlay can be spotty but works fine about 90% of time. Usually can be fixed by closing Spotify and reopening, but sometimes the Z2 needs a reboot. Wish it didn't need plugged into wall at all times, but I knew that going in.Just plugged in my iPhone 6 and it works just as great as the 5s. We put it in the kitchen and it fits perfectly in the corner. Love that it can be used as a dock to recharge the phone. The quality of sound depends on what you are used to. Way better than my clock radio, but not as good as my home stereo speakers. Certainly good enough to listen to NPR in the morning.Speaker broke after 6 months, Airplay is also brutal and works maybe half the time. NOT AT ALL worth the money, go buy something for $50 and you'll get a speaker of equal quality and better value.Very good quality, sound and charging togetherReally love the sound.
