Five stars for uncontrollable grinning when I first plugged them in and hit play.I bought these just for listening to music, and I've been really enjoying them. I'm not really a serious audiophile, but I do appreciate good sound. I ended up getting these after trying to buy a second pair of Sennheiser PX100's (since my wife appropriated my first pair, and I loved them) and finding them discontinued. I then thought I'd try an over-ear model, and ended up grabbing these. To my surprise, I actually like these better than the (more expensive) PX100's.The sound quality to me is excellent (especially considering the price, at ~$60 CAD). The response seems very flat, with very clear highs and solid, full bass. The sound is reminiscent of live music with great acoustics. I now feel that I understand what people mean when they talk about the "sound stage" of various headphones. All the various instruments don't sound like they're crammed into little speakers, but rather like they're spread out across an imaginary stage. And one thing I noticed for those who do intend to use these for mixing: they will clearly pick up any background hiss in recordings, so you won't miss it. (I've suddenly become aware how much various youtubers are spending on their audio equipment.)I also find these quite comfortable to wear for two or three hours straight (haven't really tried any longer). There is room for my ears inside the padding, so the only pressure is on the side of my head, and it's snug, but not too firm. The fuzzy material the pads are wrapped in also doesn't seem to get as sweaty as the usual vinyl type stuff, and also doesn't slide around as easily (so they stay on your head better with less pressure). If you have a small head, they might not fit you, but otherwise should be comfy. The thing that I like least about these is that you can't really wear them around your neck when taking them off briefly, walking around or traveling. The top band may dig in to the back of your neck, (it's kinda sharp) and the earphones will push together under your chin so you can't look down without moving them. With that and the fact that they're not collapsible, I would not recommend these if you plan on traveling with them, or otherwise wearing them out and about a lot, on the bus/train etc. If you plan on using them at home, at your desk, on the couch, stuff like that, then I absolutely recommend them.I also might not recommend them if you're worried about people around you being able to hear what you're listening to. Being open-backed, sound does get out. I doesn't bother me, but it might bother you, (or those around you) so just be aware. One concern I had buying these was that (as one reviewer mentioned) I might need a headphone amp to drive them satisfactorily. I've been pleasantly surprised there though, with even my cell phone being able to produce enough volume for sane listening. If none of the cons I mentioned are of particular concern to you, then I highly recommend these. The sound quality is really good in general, and amazing considering the price point, and that's the main thing, right?
